Services

We pride ourselves in providing and disseminating information on prevention and control of diseases that affect pets. This could be those diseases transmitted between pets and/or their owners. Information on vaccination, deworming, dietary management, and management of pets’ environment is provided in this regard.

A thorough diagnostic protocol is necessary to identify a problem(s) that a pet presents with, and consequently to draw up the best treatment options. We are committed to thorough history-taking and physical examination of all babies presented at our hospital. We also offer the appropriate ancillary diagnostic tests wherever necessary

We offer emergency medicine, internal medicine, dermatology and musculoskeletal ailments. Our commitment to quality treatment of unwell pets is evident in the best modern therapeutic regimens tailored for specific patients’ needs.

Spaying or castrating your dog (also known as neutering or de-sexing) is an essential aspect of responsible pet ownership. Sterilisation of female pets is important to prevent unwanted pregnancies and mammary cancer, as well as to prevent and treat life-threatening pyometra. Castrated males are less likely to roam or suffer from testicular or prostatic diseases. The spraying behaviour of male cats is also markedly reduced.

Call or send us a message on our Facebook page to book an appointment.

Surgical and non-surgical wound management are procedures that we do regularly at Northmead veterinary hospital, both on an ongoing and an emergency basis. We are also competent in soft tissue surgeries of various organ systems.

Puppies/kittens and older dogs/cats have a lower ability to mount strong immune responses in comparison to pets in their prime. Accordingly, we encourage regular health checks of animals in this category to ensure optimal health.

We recognise the need to pay closer attention to animals with long-standing, chronic conditions, and we make it easy for owners to collect their pets’ chronic medications and arrange scheduled and unscheduled health checks. We offer an honest and compassionate clinical opinion regarding the prognosis of these pets.

Your pet’s teeth and mouth are examined at any consultation during which the attending vet may recommend dental scaling or extractions. Dental or oral disease may be associated with systemic illnesses such as heart valve damage or kidney disease.

An informed pet owner is a happy pet owner. That is why at Northmead veterinary hospital we strive to avail all the necessary information that our valued clients care about. To this end, we offer advice on a wide range of subjects, including pet nutrition, weight management, prescription diets, public health and general health.

We know there are owners who may be unable to travel and bring their pets to the clinic for attention for various reasons, and we cater for their needs by providing the option of house visits. We are just a phone call away if you need us to attend to your pet(s) in the comfort of your home.

Facilities

Every pet owner agonises over the nightmare of missing their fur baby and having to put up “lost” notices on various platforms. While the perfect way to ensure pets are not lost is to keep an eye on them in a secure enclosure at all times, microchipping is a very useful tool if your baby gets lost. A pet with a microchip for identification is more quickly reunited with his/her family than one without the device. Microchipping is a quick and easy exercise that can be done together with vaccination or sterilisation

A state-of-the-art digital x-ray system allows detailed evaluation of the heart and lungs, bones making up the skeleton and surveys of the abdomen.

Blood and tissue sampling and testing can be done with our in-house clinical chemistry and haematology laboratory or through access to an advanced veterinary laboratory service.

All patients in need of aggressive treatment and monitoring are hospitalised in our warm and inviting indoor wards, with round-the-clock monitoring. There are two wards: a general ward and an isolation ward for infectious diseases.
